What are the main differences between GoDutch and RegioBank?

The main differences between GoDutch and RegioBank lie in speed, costs and ease of use. GoDutch is a fully digital provider where you open a business account in three minutes and have a working Dutch IBAN and virtual Mastercard within three hours. At RegioBank, opening an account takes place via an in-person appointment with a local adviser, with the process taking several working days to weeks.

In addition to onboarding, the cost structure and service model also differ. GoDutch operates with a free Free package with no fixed monthly costs, a transaction fee of €0.12 per SEPA payment and cashback of up to 1% on card spending. RegioBank charges €10.70 per month for the MKB Rekening, plus an additional contribution between €1.50 and €7.50 for customer due diligence. RegioBank positions itself with personal contact via local advisers and has been part of ASN Bank since December 2025.

In short, GoDutch is aimed at entrepreneurs who want to work digitally, quickly and without fixed overheads, while RegioBank suits entrepreneurs who value a regular local point of contact.

For which business owner is GoDutch a better choice than RegioBank?

GoDutch is a better choice for entrepreneurs who want to work digitally, get started quickly and not pay fixed monthly costs for their business account. These are typically sole traders, owners of a BV or holding company, partners in a VOF, SMEs with a team and boards of an association, foundation or owners' association (VvE) that want to set up their administration in a modern and automated way.

Specifically, GoDutch is a good fit for:

RegioBank is a better fit for entrepreneurs who value face-to-face contact through a local adviser, do not need international payments or team cards, and do not prioritise automating their administration.

Which legal forms does GoDutch accept in relation to RegioBank?

GoDutch clearly accepts more legal entity types than RegioBank. Whereas RegioBank's SME Account is only open to sole traders, VOFs and BVs, GoDutch also supports foundations (ANBI and standard), homeowners' associations (VvEs), associations, NVs and cooperatives.

An overview by legal entity type:

  • Sole trader and self-employed professional: both providers support this legal form

  • VOF: both providers support this legal form

  • BV and holding company: both providers support this legal form

  • Foundation (ANBI): GoDutch yes, RegioBank temporarily closed

  • Association: GoDutch yes, RegioBank temporarily closed

  • Homeowners' association: GoDutch yes, RegioBank temporarily closed

  • NV: GoDutch from the Starter package, RegioBank limited

  • Cooperative: GoDutch only

RegioBank states on its own website that it is temporarily no longer opening accounts for associations and foundations in order to comply with the Wwft requirements. For boards of these legal entity types, GoDutch offers a more accessible alternative, with a 0% VAT rate on the subscription for foundations, homeowners' associations and other associations.

How long does it take to open a business account with GoDutch compared to RegioBank?

With GoDutch, you have a working business account within three hours, including a Dutch IBAN and a virtual Mastercard. With RegioBank, the process takes several working days to weeks, because opening it takes place via an in-person appointment with a local independent adviser.

The difference lies mainly in the process. With GoDutch, everything is digital and you do it yourself from your phone or laptop:

  • Online registration: three minutes

  • Identification: via passport or driving licence within the app

  • KYC and KYB processing: three hours

  • IBAN and card: activated immediately, often the same day

With RegioBank, opening it is offline. You first make an appointment with an adviser in your area, have a face-to-face meeting there of about 45 minutes, submit your documents and then wait for processing. The card and login credentials are sent later. For entrepreneurs who want to invoice and make payments straight away, this difference in onboarding time is often decisive.

How much does a business account cost at GoDutch compared with RegioBank?

With GoDutch, you pay from €0 per month for a fully-fledged business account via the Free package. With RegioBank, you pay for the SME Account €10.70 per month in package fees, plus a fixed amount for customer due diligence between €1.50 and €7.50 per month depending on your legal structure.

The package structure of GoDutch:

  • Free: €0 per month with Dutch IBAN and virtual Mastercard

  • Starter: €12 per month with 0.1% cashback on card spending

  • Pro: €29 per month with 0.4% cashback and team cards

  • Unlimited: €49 per month with 1% cashback and a personal account manager

All GoDutch packages charge a transaction fee of €0.12 per SEPA payment, both outgoing and incoming.

With RegioBank, the SME Account includes 1,250 transactions per year. Above that, each extra transaction costs €0.05. The first two months' subscription costs are free; after that, the full rate of €10.70 per month applies. An extra debit card for a second authorised user costs €1.75 per month. On an annual basis, a typical private limited company at RegioBank pays at least €144 in package fees plus €18 to €90 in customer due diligence costs. You can read a detailed cost comparison on the page about transaction costs of a business account or view the current GoDutch prices.

How much cashback do I earn with GoDutch compared with RegioBank?

With GoDutch, you earn cashback on every card transaction up to 1%, with no maximum. At RegioBank, there is no cashback programme on the business debit card or the optional credit card.

GoDutch offers four cashback levels that scale with your package:

  • Free: 0% cashback (free account without card rewards)

  • Starter: 0.1% cashback on all card spending

  • Pro: 0.4% cashback for €29 per month

  • Unlimited: 1% cashback for €49 per month

The cashback is unlimited and is automatically paid back into your business account, regardless of the type of expense. For an SME spending €10,000 per month via business cards, the Unlimited package generates €1,200 in cashback per year, more than covering the subscription cost.

RegioBank offers no comparable rewards programme. Their optional business Visa credit card focuses on spending control and insured purchases, not on earning back money. For entrepreneurs who consistently incur substantial business expenses, cashback provides an important financial incentive.

What international payment options does GoDutch offer compared with RegioBank?

GoDutch supports outgoing transfers to more than 60 countries, incoming transfers from more than 150 countries and payments in more than 20 currencies at the mid-market rate. RegioBank focuses primarily on domestic and SEPA payments in euros, with separate per-transaction rates for foreign currencies and payments outside Europe.

The international options at GoDutch:

  • Outgoing SWIFT payments: to 60+ countries worldwide

  • Incoming SWIFT payments: from 150+ countries

  • Currency exchange: at mid-market rates without hidden margins

  • Upfront insight: into costs and exchange rate via the app

  • ACH and Fedwire payments: from and to the United States

At RegioBank, standard rates apply for foreign payment transactions, with separate charges for payments in foreign currency and cash withdrawals outside the eurozone. Exchange rates are not made visible in advance in an app environment and go via the bank's conversion. For entrepreneurs doing business internationally, that generally means higher costs per transaction and less transparency about the actual exchange rate.

Can I get more cards for my team with GoDutch than with RegioBank?

With GoDutch, you can easily request extra cards yourself for your team members, with their own limits and spending permissions per card. With RegioBank, you can request at most one extra debit card for a second authorised user, at €1.75 per month, and this is arranged via your adviser.

The team card options at GoDutch by plan:

  • Free: 1 virtual card for the owner

  • Starter: 1 virtual and 1 physical card, plus 1 additional full user (free)

  • Pro: 10 virtual and 5 physical cards, plus 10 team cards for expenses or travel

  • Unlimited: unlimited virtual and physical cards, plus 50 team cards

Each team card gets its own settings: spending limits per day, week or month, restrictions by spending category, and immediate blocking in the app if it is lost. For growing SMEs, this means expense claims and payments made upfront are a thing of the past. RegioBank works more traditionally with one main account holder and optional authorised users via forms. For entrepreneurs with a growing team or multiple operating companies, that is cumbersome.

Which accounting software works with GoDutch versus RegioBank?

GoDutch has direct connections with more than 30 accounting packages, including Moneybird, e-Boekhouden, Exact, Visma, Asperion and Clearbooks. RegioBank offers its own RegioBank Accounting Link as an optional extra service that you must request separately on top of your SME Account.

At GoDutch, the best-known accounting integrations are included as standard in every package and are free to activate:

  • Moneybird: direct API integration with real-time synchronisation

  • E-Boekhouden: direct API integration with automatic import of transactions

  • Exact and Visma: integration with the most commonly used ERP environments for SMEs

  • Asperion, Clearbooks and DigiBTW: broader support for specialist packages

  • 20+ other packages: including Adfinity, Agicap, Bunni and Cashplannr

Transactions are synchronised in real time as soon as they take place, so your bookkeeper or accountant always sees up-to-date figures. You can also give your bookkeeper free access to your account with their own permissions, without this incurring any extra costs. A complete overview of the available integrations can be found on the page with GoDutch integrations.

The RegioBank Accounting Link works via a separate service that forwards transactions to common packages, but this integration is not a standard part of the SME package and is charged separately. For sole traders and SMEs who want to automate their administration, the difference in integration options and convenience is significant.

How does GoDutch's customer service differ from that of RegioBank?

GoDutch offers 24/7 personal support via chat, email and phone by real staff, not chatbots. RegioBank focuses on personal contact via local independent advisers during office hours, which is appreciated by entrepreneurs who value physical proximity.

The support at GoDutch:

  • 24/7 available: telephone emergency support on all packages

  • Multiple channels: help via chat, email and phone, with priority for Pro and Unlimited

  • Dedicated account manager: with the Unlimited package

  • Dutch-speaking team: staff who understand entrepreneurship

RegioBank works with independent advisers spread across the Netherlands, based in a local advisers' office in your region. These are financial advisers who, in addition to business payment transactions, also handle mortgages and insurance. For entrepreneurs who want a familiar face nearby and prefer to discuss their financial matters face to face, that is a distinguishing feature.

The difference is therefore mainly in approach and accessibility. GoDutch is reachable whenever you want, including in the evenings and at weekends. RegioBank is reachable on weekdays during office hours via an appointment or telephone call with your regular adviser.

How does GoDutch score in customer reviews compared with RegioBank?

RegioBank has been in first place since 2017 in the Consumentenbond panel survey for current accounts, with a 9.2 in the Bankenmonitor of January 2026. This survey measures only personal current accounts and does not concern the business SME Account. For business accounts there is no comparable independent panel survey, but GoDutch scores consistently highly on Trustpilot and Google reviews for business users.

Important nuances in these assessments:

  • Research target group: the Bankenmonitor 2026 asks nearly 14,000 consumers about their personal account, not about business services

  • Costs versus service: RegioBank scores relatively low on costs (6.3) but excels on service (8.9) within the personal segment

  • ASN Bank merger: as of 1 December 2025, RegioBank has become part of ASN Bank

  • Business segment: for business accounts there is no comparable annual panel survey

Since its launch in 2024, GoDutch has gathered more than 20,000 active entrepreneurs and in that same year won both "Mastercard for Fintech" and "Finance Startup of the Year". Customer reviews on Trustpilot and Google consistently cite the speed of account opening, the user-friendliness of the app and the accessibility of the support team as the strongest points.

In summary: RegioBank's customer satisfaction awards apply to personal banking, not business services. For your choice of a business account, other factors count, such as opening speed, automations, international options and cashback. A comprehensive comparison can be found in our overview of the best banks in the Netherlands.

How safe is my money with GoDutch compared with RegioBank?

Your money is protected up to €100,000 per account holder with both GoDutch and RegioBank via the deposit guarantee scheme (DGS). Both parties are subject to European supervision and apply strict security standards for financial transactions.

The security features at a glance:

  • GoDutch: deposit guarantee up to €100,000, funds held in a segregated account, standard two-factor authentication, SurePay and active fraud prevention across all plans

  • RegioBank: deposit guarantee up to €100,000, part of ASN Bank since December 2025 with a Dutch banking licence, two-factor authentication via digipas or the mobile app, standard fraud monitoring

A key point for entrepreneurs with large balances: the €100,000 guarantee applies per account holder per licence. ASN Bank, SNS and the former RegioBank all fall under a single ASN Bank N.V. licence. If you hold money with multiple brands within that group, it counts together towards the €100,000 limit. With GoDutch, this guarantee is separate from other institutions, allowing you to spread your deposits to make full use of the guarantee with each provider.

For the boards of a foundation or VvE with substantial reserve funds, this difference is worth considering.

How do I switch from RegioBank to GoDutch?

Switching from RegioBank to GoDutch is arranged in four steps, with you being operational with your new business account within one working day. The cancellation of your business account with RegioBank does not need to happen immediately, so you can switch over at your leisure without missed payments.

Step-by-step plan for the switch:

  1. Open your account with GoDutch: complete the online application (three minutes), identify yourself with passport or driving licence and wait for the KYC processing (three hours). Your IBAN and virtual Mastercard will be active immediately afterwards.

  2. Communicate your new IBAN: inform customers and suppliers who normally transfer to your RegioBank IBAN about your new account number. In the GoDutch app, you can easily download a bank statement with your IBAN for your records.

  3. Move direct debits: adjust your recurring payments with suppliers, energy, software subscriptions and other periodic bills. In the GoDutch app, set these up as a recurring order or direct debit.

  4. Transfer the balance and close the old account: transfer the remaining balance to your GoDutch account and close your RegioBank account via your adviser or the online portal.

Tip: keep both accounts running in parallel during the first month, so any forgotten direct debits or payments are not declined. If you have any questions during the switch, GoDutch's support team will help you 24/7 via chat, email or telephone. Ready to switch? Open your free business account today and experience the difference for yourself.
