FREDERICTON, New Brunswick - The Canada Holland Remembers Committee 2010 hopes to improve on its much-appreciated 1995, 2000 and 2005 editions of Canada Holland Remember festivities with another large event for the remaining veterans who liberated the Netherlands in 1944-45. The Fredericton event will run from May 3 to May 9, 2010.

Organizers are planning their activities in conjunction with the commemorations and celebration festivities in the Netherlands in places such as Wageningen, Nijmegen, Apeldoorn, Holten, Groesbeek and others.

The Fredericton event is for those veterans who for reasons of health, finances and logistics are unable to travel to Europe.

Rozenburg’s Male Choir from a village west of Rotterdam will be featured in the event schedule. The choir that was founded in 1927 will hold a concert in Fredericton on Wednesday May 5 and in Saint John on Thursday May 6.

Also being planned are private mini concerts at the veterans’ units beside the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital and Ridgewood in South-Bay, Saint John, where liberators are being cared for. The choir will also provide assistance on the May 4 commemoration (Dodenherdenking) at the Fredericton Cenotaph and will participate in the Liberation Parade on Saturday, May 8.

Organizers welcome help to defray costs for the many events. Their address is Canada Holland Remembers Committee 2010, 95 Burpee Street, Fredericton, NB E3A 1M3, Canada.
