OECD recommends tolling Dutch roads

PARIS – The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development thinks it knows the answer for Dutch traffic woes. Saying the Dutch economy suffers from the country’s inability to solve freight transportation problems, it recommends tolling the roads, upgrading public transportation in the Randstad and building roads to and from Almere, an emerging city in Flevoland. Dutch freight increasingly is being moved by railway cars or river and canal barges.
