Queen Beatrix and Belgian Prince visit 100-year old rifle club

STRAMPROY - The highlight at the recent 100th anniversary celebrations of the Limburg rifle club OLS was the visit of Queen Beatrix and Belgian Prince Filip. The cross-border club held a party during which some 45,000 people witnessed traditional target shooting (aimed at the top of a tall pole), and the equally ceremonial parade of Master Marksmen, flag bearers and banner wavers. Although it is customary for the Governors of the Belgian and Dutch provinces of Limburg to open the annual festival with their own target shot, this time, Prince Filip and Dutch Justice Minister Donner did the honours.
