Winnipeg became the first home in Canada to the DeVries brothers, Klaas and Reindert, who arrived in Canada from Jubbega-Schurega in 1892. Their lengthy letter home prompted the first Dutch group migration to Canada the following year. Eventually, both emigrated again, this time to USA. Klaas settled in Michigan, Reindert near Oak Harbor, Washington State.
