Manna flight may be reenacted after 2005 attempt failed

VLAARDINGEN - A commemorative flight, which on Queen’s Day 2005 was to drop ‘Liberty Bread’ on a well-attended site in this community near Rotterdam, may see another attempt this April 29. Last year, the pilot of the historic B-25 Mitchell made a navigation error and dumped the load in a distant field. Although many of the veterans attending the festivities later handed out the bread from their vehicles in a Liberation parade, the urge for a successful reenactment of the 1944 Manna flights over starving Holland was voiced ovr and over by disappointed onlookers.
