VAUGHAN, Ontario - In the midst of the excitement which recently surrounded the grand opening of Vaughan Mills, DUCA Financial Services Credit Union Ltd. was quietly working behind the scenes, providing the Canada’s newest enclosed regional shopping centre with innovative merchant banking facilities that have never before been available in the country.

DUCA was chosen as the preferred merchant banker for Vaughan Mills, which opened for business in early November. Within the shopping centre, the Dutch immigrant-founded cooperative bank provides merchant banking services through the Express Banking Centre - an automated banking machine where merchants can make their deposits and replenish their cash registers. Partnering with a Pennsylvania-based group, the centre is equipped with a depository and coin and currency dispenser in a secure, monitored environment inside Vaughan Mills. The Express Banking Centre is available to the merchants 24 hours a day.

Vaughan Mills, situated in the fast-growing suburb of Vaughan, north of Toronto, is the first enclosed regional shopping centre built in Canada in more than 14 years. The 1.2 million-square-foot shopping, leisure and entertainment destination features more than 200 anchor and specialty stores, restaurants and entertainment venues. Many are the first of their kind in Canada.

DUCA Financial Services has provided personal and commercial banking services for its 32,000 members through 12 branches in the Toronto region for over 50 years. DUCA has pioneered a number of successful financial services’ concepts.
