DOUMEN, China - Nutreco has successfully completed the Zhuhai Shihai Feed acquisition. The fish and shrimp feed supplier had in 2010 revenue of about $70 million. This acquisition provides Nutreco’s fish feed business a production base in China, rated the world's largest aquaculture feed market. The acquisition dates from February 2011 and required approval by the Chinese authorities. Zhuhai Shihai produces approximately 100,000 tonnes of fish and shrimp feed in 2010, a year in which it commissioned a new feed plant with an approximate capacity of 150,000 tons. Another Dutch industrial giant active in China is the former coal mining conglomerate DSM. Its division DSM Nutritional Products recently completed its fifth feed premix plant in China. Located in the city of Chengdu, the capital of the province of Sichuan, the new plant has the biggest capacity of all of the firm’s feed premix plants in China.
