THE HAGUE – The annual conference for Dutch ambassadors and consuls-general focused on the question of how to strengthen Dutch economic interests abroad. The gathering of 150 diplomats interacted with 700 entrepreneurs, mostly on a one-on-one basis but also via twitter if the entrepreneurs were unable to be present at the one-day networking opportunity. Foreign Affairs Minister Uri Rosenthal emphasized the importance of the diplomatic posts for economic growth and employment in the Netherlands. The diplomats abroad are the eyes and ears of the Dutch business world and can help entrepreneurs identifying opportunities but also assist in solving problems.
