The Dutch pick Olympians as 2010 Athletes of the Year

AMSTERDAM – Two Dutch 2010 Olympic gold medal winners have added another feat to their curriculum vitae now that they have been proclaimed the best individual athletes of the year 2010. The Orange soccer team landed the honour in the team designation while coach Bert van Marwijk was acclaimed tops in his category. The best individual athletes are speed skater Mark Tuitert who claimed gold on the 1,500 metre track. Nicolien Sauerbreij’s Olympic gold medal was number 100 for the Netherlands. She also is the world champion in parallel giant slalom snowboarding. She also made history as a winter sports gold medalist. Her medal is the first one not won on an ice racing track.
