MIDDELBURG – The museum density in the Netherlands has increased a notch now since the Voetbal (Soccer) Experience Museum has opened in Middelburg. It is a central location for Dutch, Belgian and French soccer fans looking for a sense of history regarding their favourite sport. The plan was conceived by a number of sports journalists and former professional players. One of the top items on display is a replica of the 1988 cup the Dutch won in the European finals. The museum also has a nearly complete shirt collection of the Dutch national team, known simply as Oranje. The museum’s founders anticipate that about 200,000 visitors will visit their attraction annually.
