Jetses’ art on display at retrospective

Tags: Excerpts from the Windmill

BARNEVELD – Dutch illustrator Cornelis Jetses (1873-1955), the creator of the youthful characters of Ot & Sien, and who illustrated the reading method Aap-Noot-Mies, is the subject of a retrospective at Barneveld’s Veluws Museum Nairac. Millions of the Dutch are acquainted with Jetses’ art; they either held it in their hands, looked at wall art at school or read books that were illustrated by him. Nairac claims a first, since a number of the paintings, which were used for reproductions in various forms, were never exhibited before. The exhibit runs through October 31, 2009.
