ALBLASSERWAARD – The Dutch make their way to and fro on an increasing variety of two-wheeled vehicles. They get around on various kinds of bicycles, from the Oma-bike to multi-speed racing bikes, scooters up to a 50cc capacity (bromfietsen) and on motorcycles. In recent years the former Solex type of bicycle, which has a small motor to aid cyclists in surmounting strong headwinds, has resurfaced as the snorfiets, which for the first time has overtaken the number of scooter units sold in a year. The maximum allowable speed of a snorscooter is 25 kilometres per hour. The cyclist still requires a driving license or certificaat.
