THE HAGUE – The Dutch capital soon will be home to a University College, an English language program for students from all over the world.

Next September, the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the VU University plan to launch the Amsterdam University College. The program will offer a bachelor of liberal arts and science decree.

Amsterdam expects to have a dedicated campus with a building by 2012. The location has not yet been announced. Initially, lectures will be given in the existing UvA and VU buildings and students will be offered accommodation nearby.

Amsterdam University College eventually hopes to welcome two to three hundred students a year, but anticipated one hundred and fifty students to register for the first year. The college aims for a mixed student population, half Dutch and the other half from abroad. University Colleges already exist in Utrecht, Middelburg and Maastricht.
