ELSPEET — Local history groups throughout the country keep pushing for the erection of monuments and other markers in recognition of wartime events such as the crash in the night of February 19, 1944 of an English bomber at a location near this central Dutch village. None of the seven crew members survived the crash. A monument now marks the site at Elspeet, a village located between Amersfoort and Zwolle.
