Golden Tulip enters China with first hotel in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, China - Golden Tulip Hospitality, a Netherlands-based hotel chain, and Shanghai Eastern Airline Hospitality have signed a management agreement for the 283-room Shanghai Eastern Airline Hotel.

Shanghai Riverside is a 4-star superior first class hotel centrally located in the north of the city. All rooms are equipped with ADSL, data port, satellite TV, mini bar and IDD. The Golden Tulip Shanghai Riverside will be the Swiss-Dutch chain’s first hotel in China. The hotel chain assumes management as per April, 2007. Golden Tulip Hospitality hopes that its China venture eventually will blossom to a network of 200 hotels across the country.

Shanghai is a large and rapidly developing city and has a long and interesting history. The Golden Tulip Hospitality Group, with head offices in Amersfoort, The Netherlands and Lausanne, Switzerland, has more than 630 hotels under its umbrella with 58,000 rooms in about 50 countries. It franchises and manages hotels in most parts of the world. In 2006, Hotels Magazine ranked this hotel chain the 18th largest.
