Home often nearby for Dutch soldiers thanks to Pro Rege

Tags: Excerpts from the Windmill

APELDOORN – Pro Rege, the Christian volunteer group that gives military personnel a home away from home, is continually moving further from its home base to fulfill its mission. Founded in an age when soldiers appreciated a home near their kazerne or armouries within the Netherlands, Dutch service personnel by the thousands today are dispatched to places half a world away. The privately-funded group maintains homes near Dutch bases in Germany, in the Balkan region, in Iraq and now also in Afghanistan where Pro Rege’s international umbrella Echos also is opening a home soon. Thirty thousand supporters and hundreds of churches help fund Pro Rege.
