Pension fund ABP reports another banner year

HEERLEN – Dutch pension fund ABP has concluded another top year, earning a 9.5 percent return on its massive portfolio. ABP which looks after much of the civil service and the education sector, manages $270 billion, with investments in real estate, joint ventures, and securities. The results have pushed ABP well over the Dutch regulatory threshold requirements for pension funds. ABP has refocused its investment strategy somewhat by reducing its stock market exposure and investing in infrastructure projects (roads, bridges and airports in Asia), more joint ventures and hedge funds.
